Meet The Team
Percy Salazar Diaz
Managing Director & Master Ice Sculptor
Originally from Peru, Percy started carving ice when he was working at the London Savoy hotel. He went on to work for an ice company where he was able to gain more commercial experience in his chosen trade.
He loves to experiment with different techniques and textures in ice and is always coming up with new ideas thus ensuring that PSD Ice Art remains at the forefront of the industry.
He is also responsible for training many ice sculptors all of whom in time have recognised and reached his own extremely high standards.
Nicky Salazar
Finance Director
Nicky, also known as ‘The Ice Lady’, is the driving force and heart of PSD Ice Art.
She has had a varied career which started as a banker, moved into dance as a Salsa teacher, back to numbers as a bookkeeper and finally to the General Management of PSD Ice Art.
Her daily routine involves the management of the Sales and Ice teams and ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
She loves the variety of the business and is constantly surprised at the ideas people come up with for their events.
It can be anything from the everyday to the completely outrageous and spectacular, which is what keeps it exciting!
Giovanni (John) Checherita
Head Designer & Ice Sculptor
Giovanni started his career as a trainee chef at the Giovanni XXIII chef school in Caorle, near Venice in 2006. He was introduced to fruit and vegetable carving by Italian chef-Artist Orlando Scaggiante.
He spent a couple of years working in Michelin star restaurants in Italy and England before turning his talents towards ice carving.
He joined the PSD Ice Art team in 2012 as a trainee sculptor since then has developed into a talented young ice artist.
During lockdown, unable to carve he studied CAD drawing and added ice design to repertoire.
Rohan Salazar
Sales Director & Ice Sculptor
Rohan is the youngest member of our team. He started a the very tender age of 13 when he would come in after school and help clean all the ice glasses we were supplying to the Ice Bar in London.
He then progressed to helping generally with the ice sculptures in the freezer and setting up the sculptures for the clients and de-rig at the end of the event when needed.
One of his favourite things about the job is that he gets to go to different venues, be part of exciting events and to meet interesting people!
Andrew Salazar
Operations Director & Ice Sculptor
Andrew is Percy’s eldest son. He studied art at college and is currently in his third year at university studying architecture. When not at university he can be found at the PSD ice studio helping wherever he is needed
He has worked both in the office and the freezer so has a complete knowledge of how everything should be.
Like his father he is a true artist who fully understands how ice works and very often can come up with ideas that nobody else has even thought about!
He loves to chat so spends most of his time on the phone talking to clients. His general sunny nature makes him a huge hit with everyone.
