To ensure our team building guests are given the best experience we limit the numbers attending at any one time to just 30 people. This enables us to get round to see every team and offer guidance where needed.
Usually, we divide the group into 15 teams of 2 people per carving station. Each team is provided with one chisel. The idea being that one person is carving while the other directs. They can then swap roles so that they each have a turn.
Working in this way encourages both communication and creative, collective collaboration.
Of course, having just the one chisel on each team means that only one person can be working on the ice at a time – thus avoiding the accidental chopping off of fingers 🤣
Looking to create a team building event for more than 30 people?
We can do it; we just need to work it in a different way.
One way would be to increase the teams to 3 per station taking the maximum per session up to 45 – there would still only one chisel though so there could be a lot of directing going on!!
OR
We could divide them into multiple groups of 30 and run consecutive sessions throughout the day/evening.
You can choose between a 1-hour or 1½ – 2-hour masterclass; it’s up to you. According to the Pomodoro Method the maximum time anyone can focus when learning something new is 45 minutes followed by a 15-minute break – which might explain why the 1-hour masterclass tends to be the more popular one!!
